Ayurveda & Yoga Introduction

about the course

This course offers an in-depth introduction to Ayurveda, the ancient science and system of maintaining good health, well-being and healing. It includes practical and traditional Ayurvedic yoga sessions, exploration of Ayurvedic principles of inner balance, five elements and Dosha theory (how combinations of elements relate to natural state, constitution and imbalances), and the understanding of Ayurvedic approach to self healing.

This course is not only a chance to discover new understanding of true health but also to recharge and refresh your personal practice of wellbeing.

The course will be led by Balarama Chandra Das and supported by his co-teacher Emma Kate Veader. Suitable for both yoga beginners and experienced practitioners.

about the teachers

Balarama Chandra was born into a family of soft hearted Native American and Mexican farm workers. Inner strength through struggle and seeking love in all things were his caring parents. He found new vibrance in life once he heard the voice and conversation of Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita.

Currently focuses his professional practice on Ayurvedic Psychology and Habit Reformation through positive expression and the simple means of yoga, breath, and diet. He loves facilitating the conversation of self transformation and dharma via international educational trainings, retreats, and personal counseling. Read more…

Emma is a practitioner of yoga and Ayurveda. Endeavoring to share the fruits of this ancient wisdom along with her passion for cooking, she works with clients through the planting of seeds and skills to cultivate a greater alignment to nature’s rhythm. Read more…

The Yoga Tree is a well-established centre for yoga, meditation, dance and wellbeing. We have three studios, daily classes in everything from Hatha Yoga, Chi-Gong and Women sacred dance, to Dance Mandala, Stillness meditation and the ever-popular Laughter Yoga. More than anything, the Yoga Tree is a community space which people come back to time and again over many years and the well-established local community enjoys regular festivals, retreats and workshops. The Yoga Tree café has juices, smoothies and healthy snacks.  We provide yoga mats, props and back-supporting meditation cushions.

Easy walking distance to all the great markets, galleries, cafes and temples that Chiang Mai has to offer, the Yoga Tree is a great place to meet, connect or simply hang out and enjoy the atmosphere.

the location

The Yoga Tree lies in the heart of the in the beautiful old city of Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, centre of the ancient Lanna Kindom and steeped in local culture and customs. When you visit Thailand, locals often ask, ‘Have you been to Chiang Mai yet?’ and for good reason. Consistently voted in the top 10 best world cities to visit, Chiang Mai is known for its hospitality, relaxed pace of life, spirituality, and closeness to nature. A vibrant mix of both old and modern culture, the old city is home to great local coffee, numerous cafes, galleries, vegan and vegetarian restaurants, beautiful old temples, fresh food markets, the infamous weekend Walking Street night markets, all enclosed within a 13th century moat and old city walls. If you haven’t been to Chiang Mai yet, here’s your invitation!  


We provide healthy lunch, tasty and vegetarian, with vegan options, made from local ingredients. Fresh, in-season tropical fruit herbal tea will be provided throughout the day. At morning break, we’ll offer one of our special Ayurvedic smoothies. Free water is always available.

how to register and make payment

To book a place, please send us an application form and payment no later than the 3rd of December, if you want to get the Early Bird Discount, or otherwise by the 12th.  If you wish to book a place after that date, please write to us at info@theyogatree.org to check for availability.  We operate a first-come first-served booking policy. Maximum 20 places. No refunds! For any registration or other enquiries, please email info@theyogatree.org. We accept bank transfers to either UK or local Thai accounts and PayPal.
